Intergenerational Academy-NOW ACCEPTING ENROLLMENT

Participation is FREE.

The Senior Hub supports our Spanish speaking aging adults raising their grandkids through this weekly academy. Parenting is difficult for everyone, and we want to make it easier for our community by providing guidance and education about the obstacles children and their primary caregivers face today.

Session Information:

The academy is a series of weekly educational sessions which provides grandparents with necessary tools for acting as the primary guardian of their grandchildren. We offer two sessions per week: Wednesdays 5:30pm-7:30pm and Saturdays 9:30am-11:30am. Meals are provided, and childcare is available. Sessions are provided in Spanish only.

The Academy is held at our Adult Day Center 2360 W 90th Avenue, Federal Heights, CO

About Julietta:

Julieta Quiñonez is a first-generation college graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and sociology from the University of Denver. She served as the Multicultural Outreach Manager for Denver Public Schools for seven years. Quiñonez was responsible for increasing parent engagement to support youth achievement in the Latino, Vietnamese, and refugee communities. In addition, she hosted and produced daily bilingual shows, EDUCA Radio and EDUCA TV, aimed at strengthening the connection between Denver’s schools and communities of color.

For nearly 20 years, Julieta has been an expert and thought leader in Colorado promoting equity, with an intensive focus on high quality education for all. She has served on various boards including the Latin American Educational Foundation Young Professionals Board and continue to present various motivational and educational workshops for non-profit organizations in Colorado. Quiñonez is currently working at Denver Water as Community Relations Senior Specialist where she is helping build relationships with grassroots community organizations to ensure equity across the water utility agency.

Julieta Quiñonez es la primera en su familia en graduarse de la universidad con un bachiller en artes de ciencias políticas y sociología de la Universidad de Denver. Por siete años tuvo el puesto de Gerente de enlaces multiculturales de las Escuelas Públicas de Denver. Quiñonez tuvo cargo de incrementar enlaces familiares en comunidades latinas, vietnamitas y refugiados, para que estudiantes sobresalgan y tengan éxito académico. Fue locutora y productora de radio y TV de los shows bilingües EDUCA Radio y EDUCA TV, cual propósito es crear vínculos entre las escuelas de Denver y comunidades de diferentes razas.

Julieta cuenta con más de 20 años de experiencia en promover la equidad en Colorado con un enfoque en lograr una educación de alta calidad para todos. Ha sido parte de varias mesas directivas incluyendo la mesa directiva de la Fundación Educativa Latinoamericana y presenta talleres educativos a organizaciones sin fines de lucro en Colorado. Quiñonez es Agente líder de desarrollo de relaciones con la comunidad para Denver Water donde crea vínculos con organizaciones comunitarias para asegurar equidad en la empresa pública de servicio de agua.
