Building Plans Progressing

Dramatic Population Growth

In 2010, there were 147,990 people age 60 and older in our primary service area of Adams and Arapahoe Counties. By 2040 that number will grow to 390,321 people, a 164% increase.

In 2010, there were 41,543 people age 75 and older in our primary service area. By 2040 that number will grow to 166,687 people, a 301% increase. Many of these people will need our help.

This dramatic growth will transform the region that we live in and challenge every aspect of our community life. The Senior Hub must begin now to increase the capacity of our organization to serve this population.

Proposed Floorplan

Benefits of Expansion

The Senior Hub's main facility has undergone little renovation since it was constructed over 25 years ago. The expanded and renovated facility will result in improved services for older adults and an increase in the agency's capacity to serve more older adults than ever before.

* New construction will create functional work space for staff who are currently sharing offices and working in hallways and a storage closet.

* Program staff will be grouped together to improve communication.

* A Senior Solutions program suite will be created to allow improved client privacy and confidentiality. Food Bank access, medical equipment lending, and client assistance interviews will be relocated to preserve client dignity.

* New energy efficiencies throughout the building will lower operating costs and allow more funds for programs. Our indoor working climate will improve.

* Operating efficiencies will improve when hallway congestion is significantly reduced, especially when Meals on Wheels drivers are preparing their deliveries.

* The office copy machine will be moved from our accounting office to a new main floor storage area, reducing distractions for that important job function.

* A much needed new basement storage area will be built under the new office space. All programs will benefit.
